Eduard 8804 Allied Airfield with PSP cover 300x400 diorama base in 1/48 scale, dedicated to aviation modelling enthusiasts. This product represents a realistic section of an Allied field airfield with the characteristic PSP (Pierced Steel Planking) metal covering, widely used during World War II.

PSP coverings were developed to meet the needs of the Western Allies during World War II. They allowed for the rapid preparation of hardened runways and parking areas for fighter and bomber aircraft. This solution was widely used in operational areas such as Normandy (after the 1944 landings) and Italy, as well as in the Pacific theater. Standard PSP plates were made of perforated galvanised steel and allowed for the quick assembly and disassembly of airfield surfaces on various grounds, often marshy or soft.

The base precisely replicates the structure and pattern of the plates, enabling the quick construction of an authentic diorama illustrating an Allied field airfield from World War II. It is perfect as a backdrop for single aircraft models such as the P-51 Mustang, Spitfire, or P-47 Thunderbolt used by the US, RAF, or Commonwealth forces.
