The Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero Type 21, commonly known as the "Zero," was one of the most recognisable carrier based fighters of the Japanese fleet. It became famous during the attack on Pearl Harbor and in key battles of the Pacific campaign. The plane was renowned for its excellent manoeuverability, long range, and light construction. It was widely used by Japan throughout World War II on all Pacific fronts, including the Battle of Midway and the Solomon Islands.
