In 1956, France and Great Britain simultaneously launched studies for a supersonic transport aircraft. On November 29, 1961, these two separate studies merged into a single project, involving four main companies: Aerospatiale, BAC, Rolls Royce, and SNECMA. The first prototype left the factory in Toulouse on December 11, 1967. The Concorde had already broken the altitude record (21,000 m) and the speed record (Mach 2.2). On January 21, 1976, a new era in the history of commercial aviation began under the liveries of Air France and British Airways.
