In 1956, France and England simultaneously began studies for a supersonic transport aircraft. These led to two separate projects in 1961, which were merged into a single project on November 29, 1962, involving four major companies: Aerospatiale, BAC, Rolls Royce, and SNECMA. The first prototype, number 001, left the factory in Toulouse on December 11, 1967. On October 9 and December 4, 1975, after 5,400 flight hours, 2,000 of which were supersonic, French and British certificates of airworthiness were issued. The Concorde had already broken the altitude (21,000 m) and speed (Mach 2.2) records. On January 21, 1976, a new era of commercial scheduled air travel began under the liveries of Air France and British Airways. F-BTSD, serial number 213
