The Dassault Mirage 2000 is a French built multirole fighter that entered service in the early 1980s. Initially developed as a single seat aircraft optimized for air superiority and interception missions, it later evolved into the Mirage 2000D variant, specifically designed for ground attack and low altitude penetration missions. Entering service with the French Armee de lAir, the Mirage 2000D retained the signature delta wing aerodynamic configuration of the Mirage 2000 but featured a two seat layout, with a pilot and a weapons systems officer responsible for target acquisition and weapon management. The aircraft has been deployed in various operational theaters, including Libya and Afghanistan. Capable of carrying a diverse offensive payload for a wide range of mission profiles, the Mirage 2000D has undergone continuous avionics and electronic upgrades to extend its operational lifespan.
