The P-51D Mustang is one of the most famous Allied fighters of World War II. The D version was distinguished by its characteristic bubble canopy, Merlin engine, and various weaponry and performance upgrades. These fighters escorted American strategic bombers over occupied Europe, breaking the Luftwaffe's dominance on the Western Front.
